November 2, 2021
As part of our talk series, we are glad to announce a new talk next week by Dr. Manjil Saikia, from Cardiff University, UK. Please find further talk details below.
Speaker: Dr. Manjil Saikia, Postdoctoral Research Associate, Cardiff University, UK.
Title: An introduction to $q$-analysis.
Venue and time: Google Meet (online) | 02:30 PM (GMT +5:30), Wednesday, 3rd November, 2021.
Abstract: There is no formal definition of q-analysis, some prefer to just refer to it as $q$-series, a subject consisting of identities between certain kinds of sums and products. In this talk, we will try to see a few examples of the power and inherent beauty of the subject, via some known (and a few unknown, hopefully) objects in combinatorics and number theory. The talk would only assume a +2 level knowledge of calculus and combinatorics.
Registration: Students of IISER Thiruvananthapuram do not require registration for the talks. Participants from outside IISER Thiruvananthapuram can register here: link
All are cordially invited to attend the talks over Google Meet. Please join us in large numbers, we hope to see you all there! For any further queries, mail us at mathsclub@iisertvm.ac.in.
